Lead Free Flexible Foam She Lightweight polymer

Polystyrene foam (Expanded Polystyrene referred to as EPS) is a light polymer. It is the use of polystyrene resin to join the blowing agent, while heating to soften, resulting in a gas, forming a rigid closed-cell structure of the foam.

The processing method according to the different ways of foaming can be divided into mode and extrusion method. This uniform closed cavity structure makes EPS with small water absorption, good insulation, light weight and high mechanical strength and so on. Northern Europe began to use EPS for civil engineering in the late 1960s. In 1971, the Norwegian National Road Research Laboratory (NRRL) managed to control the uneven settlement of the bridgehead section with EPS instead of 1m thick filler for the first time in the FLOM Bridge Approach. Because of the overall economic and quality effect, the 1980s increased rapidly, and Sweden, Japan, the Netherlands and other countries have used EPS in highway projects. In 1995, the first use of embankment in the bridge of Hangzhou - Ningbo Expressway.

1.1 Density

The density of EPS is determined by the expansion ratio of the polystyrene particles in the forming stage, usually between 10 and 45 kg / m3, and the EPS apparent density used in the project is generally 15 to 30 kg / m3. At present in the road works for the light filler EPS density of 20 kg / m3, for the ordinary road filler 1% to 2%. Density is an important indicator of EPS, and its mechanical properties are almost proportional to its density.

1.2 deformation characteristics

According to the experiment, the pressure process of EPS in the three-way stress state and the uniaxial stress state is similar. When the axial strain εa = 5%, the stress-strain curve shows a significant transition, and the EPS begins to exhibit elastic-plasticity. When the confining pressure is small, the effect of stress-strain relationship and yield strength is limited. When confining pressure exceeds 60KPa, the yield strength decreases obviously, which is obviously different from that of soil. When the axial strain εa ≤ 5%, regardless of the confining pressure is large, the volume strain εv close to the axial strain εa, that EPS lateral deformation is small, that is Poisson's ratio is small.

The elastic modulus Es of the EPS having a bulk density of 0.2 to 0.4 kN / m3 is between 2.5 and 11.5 MPa. Guangdong Province, the construction of light Ou River Bridge EPS filling height of more than 4m, the use of EPS capacity of 0.2kN / m3. In order to minimize the post-construction settlement, after laying the EPS material layer, in its filling 1.2m pre-pressure. The average settlement of the EPS layer is 32mm, and the elastic modulus of EPS can be calculated as 2.4MPa, and the EPS material is still in the elastic deformation stage. The section of the road in October 2000 trial opened to traffic, 6 months after the EPS material layer of the actual compression variable average of 8mm, indicating the actual effect of the use of EPS materials, used as a road embankment is a successful filler.
